I'm happy to announce that West Wind Web Connection 6.0 RTM is finally here.

The new version has been a long time in development (a lot longer than I expected), mainly because I wanted to build a solid admin story around this new version to make it easier to deploy, update and manage Web Connection installations. All the lifecycle improvements should make it drastically easier to manage and maintain Web Connection applications and make the tool more viable in the longer term going forward.

There's a lot that's new in Web Connection 6.0 but even with all of these improvements backwards compatibility has been maintained and upgrading from v5.x applications will require no changes. To highlight a number of the key new features in Web Connection 6.0 I created a detailed blog post that digs and explains the rationale and workings of some of the main new features

Upgrading
If you purchased Web Connection 5.x after April 1st, 2015 you qualify for a free upgrade and as always a shareware version is available to download and use for free. Web Connection 6.0 is a paid upgrade for previous versions and if you own any older version of Web Connection you are eligible to upgrade. Discount upgrade pricing will be in place for a few days longer until the end of the week, so if you're thinking about upgrading you can do it now and save a few bucks.

New Web Connection Web Site
I've also updated the Web Connection Web site which was in desperate need of an overhaul from 1990's old self :-). This isn't too terribly exciting I suppose but hopefully it helps to project a more professional and up to date image.

I launched a new Twitter feed for Web Connection last night. Because it's new there's not much there yet, but I'll be adding links to Tip of the day and any new release announcements and other news.

Web Connection Training at Southwest Fox
I also want to announce that I'll be back at Southwest Fox again this year and there will be another Web Connection Training session the two days prior to the main conference. I'm excited to show off Web Connection 6.0 features and provide training in general Web development principles in addition to how to maximize your use of Web Connection.

Many of you have encouraged me both with words and by continuing to purchase products in order to make this process worthwhile even in these waning days of Visual FoxPro's popularity.

You've given me a platform to express my creativity in building tools that make it easy to build Web applications. While FoxPro is waning and I am involved in many other things besides FoxPro, I continue to greatly enjoy building out this framework, because this is the sort of work I like to do. Figuring out better ways to build, manage and run applications is something I love and Web Connection has given me that opportunity over all those years - it's a labor of love and I hope it shows in the product you use.
