Ah then it's the same as the french engineering I experienced in 1999. You didn't describe the way to get out of it, so I assumed it would actually pull the brake for you and that you'd have to release it manually. And this being french, you didn't have to do it hard - if you just step on the brake long enough for the car to stop moving, the brake is engaged and then released when you step on the gas. Saved me a lot of nerves when learning new habits, after moving from the flatlands here to the hills of Virginia. Then I had to learn the new habits soon when I got into the old Corola with the manual shift.
