It depends of the version of the control. VFP 5.0 have MSCOMM32 version 4.0 (I think). Maybe you have version 5.0 that has a lot of problem with foxpro. Try deleting mscomm32.* and reinstall VFP 5.0, it will copy version 4.0 again.
