Here's the strongest statistic of all, and I mentioned it last week - one of the advocates of an earlier version of the Charlotte bill (the early version that didn't pass) is a registered sex offender.

Chad Sevearance is the former president of the Charlotte LGBT Chamber of Commerce - he was convicted in 2000 of one count of molestation of a minor.

So it is not inaccurate to say that the early origins of what eventually became the Charlotte ordinance was tainted by a community leader who essentially was promoting his own behavior.

Men are statistically FAR more likely to be sexually violent predators than women. Candidly, I am stunned that some pro-choice people who support reproductive rights (as I generally do) are OK with creating an opportunity for future problems against women in this realm.
