First of all, yes, I consider college education part of parents' responsibility. I recognize that not everyone feels this way. I've had this argument with some other folks in the Fox community repeatedly over the years.
Second, in the cases I was talking about, I wasn't referring to an occasional new car, but to the people who traded in their car every two or three years and each new one seemed to be an upgrade over the last one. In the same group, I'd put those who bought new cars for kids at 16 and then needed financial aid for college, and those who prioritized a boat or a vacation home over money for college.
