It's funny that you mention that - I wound up creating a simple Win 7 VM just for iTunes and my multimedia stuff.
Actually, you heard incorrectly. iTunes is no longer a pig. It's an even bigger pig. :)
I like the features in iTunes, but the implementation is so fat and clunky and resource intensive that I didn't want it on my core systems.
