There's an annoying practice here in NJ.
>>When I go to pick up a takeout (they call it "takeout" here- some places call in "take-in") order, there's a big jar labelled "Tips."
>>It seems that I'm expected to tip someone for taking my money and handing me a bag.
>>Well, I don't.
>>
>>I never saw that in NY.>>
>>I saw that in Akorn, Ohio...

>I've seen that in places here in NY. If I have a dollar or two on my wallet, I'll hand it to Katy and tell her to put it in the jar.
As a former caddy, I certainly understand the importance of tips. I busted my butt out there to try to squeeze an extra dollar out of a loop.
In this case, though, the people are just taking my money and handing me a bag.
So, in reality, the owner is trying to pass on his salary cost to me- and I resent that.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
