I don't know where this idea comes from that I don't feel any compassion for people who are less fortunate than I am. This simply is not true. I was on welfare myself for about 6 months a very long time ago when I was working my way though college as a bartender. I had 2 broken legs. But once I was better, I was back working my way through college. That is what this stuff was meant to be - a safety net. It was not meant to be a way of life.
