FWIW, I think such dances are offensive by leaving out large swaths of students and families. How do you think it feels to be a fatherless little girl at that school, even if grandpa or uncle agrees to take you to the dance? How about families with only boys?

In our local schools, "Donuts with Dad" morphed into "Breakfast with someone special" (or some such name) year ago to indicate that every student should come with an adult who's important to him or her.
