>Fair enough. But not so long ago, certain Englishmen decided that taxation imposed on a young colony by entrenched oldsters for their own benefit, is a form of tyranny. Thus a new and fairer republic was born of revolution. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. ;-)

John, John, John

As I mentioned in another post my bill for a recent hospitalization for pneumonia was over $35K for 5 days.
A senior friend recently generated a bill to Medicare for some GI tests - she was never admitted - that exceeded $12K.

Of course the payments we all made into Medicare won't cover costs like that.
You imply that we're victimizing the younger payors because their costs will skyrocket in order to pay those charges.

Are you suggesting that back in the late1960's when Medicare was enacted someone should have said;
"Well, Al, it now costs about $250/day to stay in the hospital, just about half your week's pay.
But, you see Al, in 2016, it will cost over $7K/day, or 14k weeks pay in current dollars, so in order to cover that, I'll take most of your current pay as a premium."

Am I wrong in inferring that you're suggesting that that's what someone should have told Al?

One the other hard:

When I started playing golf during the early 1950's a golf ball cost $1.10.
I just bought a dozen Top Flites for $11.
I bought a new Camry in 1999 for $23k - my grandson is driving it to college.
A friend just bought a new 2016 Camry - with vastly improved equipment - for $23K.

The increase in medical costs here is a national outrage and should have caused thousands of people to be sent away for long times
Are you really suggesting that it's the old-timers who are the thieves??????

John, I'm doing my best to restrain my adjectives here, but it's strenuous.
Give me a break!
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
