>I have a report in one project that I want to use in another, on a different machine. When I open the 'borrowed' report, I get a vfp message saying xyz.dbc can't be found, and choices to locate, ignore, cancel, etc. Please advise how do I cut that link.

The "borrowed report" probably has references to the DBC within its data environment. Stripping out that information (and re-establishing it prior to using that report) should get rid of the error. Granted, you probably want to do this from a copy of the report rather than modifying the original (which is apt to cause a problem in the application from which you borrowed the report).
