I've seen a couple of cases where the display adapter isn't supported by Windows 10 - older machines with certain S3, Via, Trident integrated graphics for example. In some cases you can work around that by purchasing and installing an add-on discrete graphics card based on an nVidia or AMD chip. However in one of those cases, after putting in a discrete graphics card, an upgrade to Win10 was unstable (blue-screening every 4 hours or so). The same machine is perfectly stable with Windows 7. That machine is 5 or 6 years old if memory serves.

Being domain-joined does not necessarily prevent the upgrade: http://www.infoworld.com/article/3022418/microsoft-windows/microsoft-expands-get-windows-10-campaign-to-domain-joined-win7-and-81-pcs.html . However if your domain/PCs are "locked down" there may have been group policies set that prevent the upgrade.
