I was fascinated to learn that with Cleveland's win, the team with the best regular season record in history in all 4 major sports did not win the championship that year. Don't know the particulars, but that's interesting. Does it suggest that those teams spent it all in the regular season and didn't save enough for the playoffs?

Knowing that the Phillies team with the best record in team history went down in the first round, I wonder how much it translates down to individual teams as well. That is, for each team, if you look at the year in which it had its best record, how did it fare in the post-season? (And I already have at least one example of a team that won the championship that year, the whatever-year-it-was undefeated Dolphins.)

Guess my interest in this kind of numerical stuff makes it clear that baseball is #1 for me. ;-)
