I think that the dominant political parties, the EU, the World Bank, the IMF, et al have underestimated and/or ignored the increasing economic stresses felt by working people in western countries.
There are many reasons - automation, globalization, monetary policies, fiscal policies and the financial collapse- but to the person watching people fly around in private jets while he flips hamburgers, something is really wrong.
