Many people, even up here, are so dumb and arrogant to think they are better informed than the politicians responsible for making the changes. Now I agree that american politics are worse than ours but even you would not allow everyone to drive a car without a drivers license just because there are a number of irresponsible drives with a license.

I'm well educated, follow the news closely and read the in-depth backgrounds, but I do not feel qualified to make economical decisions for the whole country and so should 99% of our population. That is why we have a representative democracy. And that has been working well for us since WWII. But its like on a birthday party: World and economical problems are resolved by people who have achieved nothing in their lives over a bottle of wine or beer. Stupidity at its best.

A direct democracy is like two wolves and a sheep voting for what's up for diner. Hint: it ain't grass.
Or put in another way: Democracy is the dictatorship of the majority

In a way I'm glad that the British are the first to shoot themselves in the foot. The rest of the EU population will take notice and will be warned what the consequences are when vox populi is applied.
