One could make the argument that their weak bench is due (at least in part) to all the focus on HRC.
To make an analogy, HRC is like Ryan Howard. Howard got a huge contract and is declining. They're stuck with a bad player.
Many parallels with HRC. An even moderately acceptable R candidate would surely defeat her in the fall.
The Rs have the reverse problem. A bunch of candidates - and ironically, the man with all the money came along and destroyed them.
This is bizarre.
