>>About half of American voters don't care how bad a character Clinton is, and will be, as long as she keeps promising more money for everything...and sometimes free for somethings.

Are you sure? I know you don't believe that the unemployed and hopeless are all deadbeats. Sure there are some entrenched low lives, but also there are millions who remember what it was like to have a breadwinner in the household and at least some prospects and the dignity of a job well done. Trump's promise to make America great again, must resound with people who feel they are treated like zoo animals, fed regularly but with no freedom and no hope beyond their imposed cages. A few extra scraps sent their way still doesn't give them a ladder up, and they know it. IMHO, anyway. Frankly I would not be surprised if Trump picks up substantial inner city Black and Hispanic votes even though he says apparently racist stuff, because they're used to being called names but not used to being offered hope and jobs if only America can be great again which, according to Trump, is something only he can do.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
