Before I start - call Ripley. I agree with Rachel Maddow. The first segment of Bill's speech was downright creepy. It was disturbing and not appropriate and did not help her (and remember, I don't care for HRC). I thought right away it was a bad place to go, and then I read Maddow's reaction.

But onto Bill's claims: I think Bill exaggerated some last night.

- Yes, HRC played a hand in CHIP. But it was Ted Kennedy who did the heaviest lifting. (Kennedy did acknowledge that HRC played a big role). I didn't even need to look that one up - that's been common knowledge for years.

- That line about an increase in U.S. approval rating of 20 points - that's from a Clinton campaign talking point on a poll that only included Europe. There is no one single poll across the world to prove or disprove Bill's claim, but people who have looked at polls on this topic conclude that the approval rating spike amounted to about half of what Bill claimed. That's certainly better than 10 points down, but it's still a very misleading exaggeration by Bill.

- Factcheck.org looked into Bill's claim that Arkansas schools went from worst to one of the two most improved - and the actual information they uncovered isn't quite as bright, and included quotes that Bill attributed from sources who actually made contradictory statements about the school progress. They cite reports from NYT that the results were that Arkansas schools simply didn't fall much further behind.

- On increased sanctions on Iran and getting both China and Russia - yes, that happened under her time as Sec of State and Bill's claim is generally true. But Iran came to the table for more reasons than just that, and again there were others involved in getting Iran to talk/listen. But whatever HRC's actual contributions there, her support for the horrible Iran deal really winds up undoing this accomplishment.

I'll be curious to see what else the fact-checkers uncover. Remember, Bill was widely criticized in 2012 for exaggerating claims in his 2012 DNC speech. Seems he has a history of going overboard for a candidate in danger of losing.
