Does it matter if it is polymethyl methacrylate (aka Plexiglas, Acrylite, Lucite, Perspex, etc. ) rather than a non-crystalline amorphous solid of silica ?

IIRC there was a story that explained why people living in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones.
