We saw Woody Allen's latest - Cafe Society- last night.
After some dark, moody movies I didn't like, WA is a back to his roots - pityhy, self-deprecating New York intellectual humor- and along with some great cinematography, sets, costumes, music and an OK plot there are some really good typical Woody Allen laughs here.

My favorite line: "Socrates said that the unexamned life isn't worth living. Well, the examined life isn't a bargain either."

After NY Times columnist David Brooks mentioned Sebastian Junger's latest book, Tribe, I found a copy at the Hamilton library.
It takes a fresh and novel look at the sources of contemporary social and economic stress and zeroes in on the isolation of today's family life and economic life as compared to earlier, more commnual forms where there there was more interdependence, out of necessity.
He doesn't offer any grand solutions but it's worth a read, especially if the outside temperature is over 100 farenheit, as it is here now.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
Malcolm Forbes, Sr.
