As soon as they are used, more than a few will be lost. Yugoslavian conflict and/or Soviet withdraw were the biggest reasons of weapon # hike in the '90ies. And there always will be the "civilized" versions created for solid reasons (easy manufacturing, well tested, ammo cheap) which can be brought up to military grade again...
