And, my last question was, have you tried running the program without the splash screen. I.E. comment it out.

Have you compiled in messagebox() calls in the app to see where it get's to?

When you say it does nothing (I know this is frustrating), is it still a process (when you press ctl-alt-del, do you see your application there)?
