>Obama, otoh, made sure the feds quickly coordinated the resources that Louisiana needed and, at the governor's request, stayed away in order not to pull resources away from the rescue efforts. As of the time I'm posting this, the top item in this link makes exactly this point: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/latest-evacuation-urged-louisiana-community-41478191

>Then how do you explain the MSM's scathing criticism of GWB (keeping in mind that I am not a fan) for not showing up immediately in the aftermath of Katrina? I think that this is extremely biased, don't you?

MSM... biased??
Quoi??
Anyone who watches MSNBC or Fox News and expects to hear objective reporting has been living in Oz.
I have MSNBC and rarely watch it- it really is awful. I don't have Fox News but watch it occasionally while vistiing those who do.
Both are ridiculously biased and useless, but of the two I have to say that I find Fox more entertaining.
The MSNBC people are too self-righteous for my taste.

That said, Bush's failures during Katrina were a lot more than optical but the optics were awful. His flyover in Air Force One and "Helluva job, Brownie!" were right up there with "Mission Accomplished"

There were lots of failures at the state level.
The Feds' main failures were not getting troops, supplies and equipment in there sooner to evacuate the people who had been stranded and
FEMA's incompetent recovery actions.
Those are not optical and they can be laid squarely at Bush's feet.

The Fed's response to Sandy was infinitely better, and so is it in the current situation.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
