Breaking APNews:

"More than half the people outside the government who met with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state gave money - either personally or through companies or groups - to the Clinton Foundation."

"[This] did not include U.S. federal employees or foreign government representatives. Clinton met with representatives of at least 16 foreign governments that donated as much as $170 million to the Clinton charity, but they were not included in AP's calculations because such meetings would presumably have been part of her diplomatic duties."

So the Crown Prince "own goal" accusations are being shelved at last. Good. But more than half of other non-government suitors, donated? Wow. That's more compelling than the Crown Prince non sequitur or Bono wanting HRC to get his concert piped to the International Space Station.

Although it's excluded from the AP calculations, I see that the Saudis and associates have donated tens of millions. You could argue that they simply believe in the foundation's work- except that its focus includes empowering women and gay issues that the Saudi donors publicly and harshly oppose. So why did they donate again? Yeah, I get the concern.

To head off criticism, both Clintons have announced plans to dissociate/spin off Clinton Foundation functions and duties when she is elected. That will enrage those who think the Clintons are teflon-coated and will get away with it again.

However, from the American Institute of Philanthropy’s Charity Watch on 24 August: "The Clinton Foundation is an excellent charity... they are able to get 88 percent of their spending to bona fide program services and their fundraising efficiency is really [good]. It only costs them $2 to raise $100."

That's miles better than most other charities out there and demolishes accusations that the foundation funds HRC's lifestyle. Not much of a personal benefit/quid pro quo for HRC AFAICS. Still not enough to stick IMHO.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
