Sending email is very solid in the West Wind Tools, but retrieving email with POP3 is not very solid actually. It's always been a light weight feature meant only for Web Servers to scan for notification messages, rather than a full blown POP3 solution you can use to build an email client.
I've been meaning to update this functionality with a new third party library, but never got around to it, mainly because it's mostly a niche feature. Dealing with email reading in an application is fraught with lots of problems that are often more easily solved by automating email clients like Outlook rather than dealing with the raw actual protocols.
