Sorry, my mistake -- I was running the tests in VFP 6.0 SP5 rather than VFP 9.0 SP2

VFP 6.0 imports the data OK, while VFP 9.0 does not. If you use DELIMITED instead of type CSV you can get it to work in VFP 9.0

I don't have a copy of VFP 8.0 to see how it behaves in this case.
