I'll never forget our first conversation about Ayn Rand. She saw me with an Ayn Rand book. Here was the exchange:
Her: "Oh, God, you're reading Ayn Rand?"
Me: "Yes, I love her work"
Her: "Her philosophy is, 'You're poor and it's your fault'!!!"
Me (smiling): "Funny, I can quote many of her books but I don't remember that specific line."
Her: "Well, that's my understanding"
Me: "Have you actually read any of her books?"
Her: "No, Kevin, I won't subject myself to such horror"
Me: "Is talking to me such a horror?"
Her: "You're pushing it, Kevin"
That is not hypocritical. That is narrow minded and ignorant ;)
