I guess my overall point is that despite her flaws, she actually has had a lot of positive success stories during her 30+ years of public service too - and the guy she's running against has none.

No not at all. I might not like their policies, but they would at least have a background that would be fitting as both have quite a bit of political experience and a good understanding of how government works....thus qualified for the job.
