>>first, you apply through the United Nations High Commission of Refugees...

FWIW, the UNHCR registration stations are in UNHCR camps where there are thugs systematically persecuting non-believers, especially Christians. Rather than face rape, thuggery and forced conversion, Chistians find succour with local churches and congregations in Turkey and elsewhere, so they don't get registered with UNHCR. Non registration with UNHCR means no opportunity for a new life in the West. Result = almost 100% Muslims selected by UNHCR to go to Western nations, even though the Christian Syrians have the greatest need by the UN's own definition because there are fewer and fewer places where they don't risk persecution in the Middle East.

Of the >6700 Syrians taken by the USA in the first part of this year, only 23 were Christians, although Christians made up about 10% of the Syrian population before the crisis and a greater proportion of refugees since most of them had to flee.

This systematic disparity explains calls in many Western nations to favor the non-Muslim refugees who are being excluded from the UN process in favor of Muslims who have a lot more potential homes in the Middle East, especially if Muslim nations like Saudi Arabia were prepared to take any.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
