Here's a laugh: according to Wikileaks, poor transcription of a Sanders TV interview had Clinton aides ready to turn their attack machine onto New Zealand's taxation and healthcare system. Except he didn't actually say New Zealand.

50% taxes to pay for it? Nah. FWIW, top company tax in NZ is 30%. There is no state tax. Top personal tax is 33% with about half the workers receiving more in credits and assistance than they pay in tax. When company profits are distributed, recipients are allowed to "impute" taxes already paid so (for example) if $1000 is distributed after 30% company tax is paid, the recipient will pay at most $30 on that, being the difference between tax already paid and the slightly higher maximum personal tax rate. Despite the usual ducking and contrivance by the super-rich and accusations of unfairness by some, and definitely since having no capital gains tax advantages the wealthy: the wealthiest 10% of kiwis still pay about 50% of the taxes (US 1%ers take note!)

NZ pays the least for healthcare of similar first world countries and comes a disappointing 7th in the Commonwealth Institute comparison of healthcare systems, with a dismal Equity score (only the US is worse) and a poor healthy living rating as well.

Figures aren't yet in for the effect of the ACA, but in most recent figures the US spent 270% as much per capita as NZ despite leaving tens of millions without coverage, but got the worst score in half of the comparison rankings as well as last overall. This is what Clinton is trying to address and it is the status quo back to which Trump apparently would steer the country. Clinton *definitely* deserves the tick on this one.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
