I hadn't noticed the USA being a laughing stock under President Obama. Maybe you're reading the wrong news and talking to the wrong people.

I do think the US needs a candidate who can unify as you seem as polarised in The USA as we are in the UK post Brexit but neither candidate seems to fit that bill.
