Marcia, take it easy on Tamar.
She is a Social Justice Warrior and they have accomplished several good things:
Women's vote
Civil Rights
Ending oppression of gays and other previously marginalized groups.
and I am sure there are other worthy accomplishments.

Some good part of this has been accomplished by seizing power in Washington, then snatching a lot more power away from the states and individuals.
Civil Rights in particular... the Federal Government used it's de-facto power and overrode states and individuals - ignoring constitutional limits on federal power.
It was a good thing for everybody, constitution be damned.

You and I clearly see the hypocritical power-mad kleptocracy that our government has become.
She still sees the promise of the shining city on the hill.

You and I see an America that almost entirely ignores race - except for those feeding on race based favoritism.
Seriously, things are so much better than they were in this regard -
My Native American grandfather would not have to pretend to be white these days - nobody cares.
My brown looking brother and brown looking cousins have not had any opportunities denied - nobody cares.
She still sees nuances of racism everywhere.

You and I see businesses bullied into supporting causes that are against the owners religion.
We see religions hammered down... in direct violation of the constitution and the common decency to respect others beliefs.
She sees "bitter clingers" getting what they deserve.

Idealism should be cherished, even if it blinds the idealist to current reality.
