>>I have always wanted what is best for my country. I am certain that Victor will never agree with that so it is a moot point.

I'm sure he does agree with that. He just doesn't agree that the President Elect is a candidate he can respect and is worried that Trump may do some of the stuff he said. Even some of those who voted for Trump, say the same.

>>BTW, this country has never been a democracy. It has always been a representative republic. So if dems won (which they did) the east and west coasts (California, Oregon, Washington, New York and New Jersey) they would undoubtedly win the popular vote. It does not mean that it is a good idea to let 5 densely populated states on the either coast control who governs the entire country. We country mice still deserve to have our voices heard.

There are proportional representation models that allow the mice to roar- but Victor would agree with you in Hawaii and it matters even more when you see elites in Wikileaks referring to much of the nation as "Flyover" territory.

FWIW: as of today, HRC won the popular vote by fewer than 700,000 votes. NYT predicts she'll win by 2 million votes in the end. For comparison in previous elections: Obama beat Romney by over 5 million in 2012, he beat McCain by almost 10 million in 2008, and Bush beat Kerry by 3 million in 2004. In 2000 Gore actually beat GWB by about 500,000 while Clinton beat Dole by 8 million in 1996 and Bush elder by 5 million in 1992. In 1988, Bush beat Dukakis by almost 8 million while Reagan beat Mondale by a staggering 17 million in 1984 and Carter by 8 million in 1980.

Seems to me that a respected candidate from either party can win the popular vote as well as the Electoral and it's always unwise to take electorates for granted. Meanwhile this election's separation of result from popular vote isn't familiar, especially to young voters, which worsens their dismay. Perhaps it helps more to point out that by these numbers, up to 8 million people who voted for Trump would have voted for Obama previously- so perhaps they're not all racists and deplorables. What made them change course? This is a time to look for common ground, not infighting. I agree that the rent a mob won't be interested, but the peaceful majority might.

>> In a battle of wits, I feel guilty about engaging someone who is not armed ;)

Why is it a battle of wits? He's disappointed at the result and said so. This is not a safe space where opposing viewpoints are treated as toxic to be punished or drummed out, is it?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
