The labor unions, with strong socialist leanings, allied with people who thought like LaFollette and that was our "liberal" base.
The basic thrust was economic justice and Bernie Sanders still reflects those principles.
I have no idea what people like Hillary Clinton, Corey Booker, or Bill DeBlasio stand for, but it's certainly not the liberalism I know.
