>> Alabama’s wealthiest school district (and also one of its whitest), Mountain Brook, in suburban Birmingham, spent nearly twice as much per student as the state’s poorest, Roanoke, in a declining manufacturing town about two hours southeast.

Agreed.
That's one of many reasons I've never stepped foot in that state.

>>Jersey is under court order to give extra money to the 31 poorest districts thanks to a three-decade case known as Abbott v. Burke that sought to equalize expenditures with the richest districts.

Over the past 30 years, New Jersey taxpayers have sent $97 billion to those 31 systems, while the other 546 have received $9 billion less, Christie said in a speech Tuesday at a school in Hillsborough.

Those districts represent 23 percent of the students and receive 59 percent of state aid, he said. >>

Adding fuel to the fire is the sad fact that the additional monies have had the reverse effect. The lower-aided systems produce better students.

If Sessions was wrong to funnel more money to rich white districts- and he was- as was just about every other white person below the Mason Dixon line at that time- why is it OK to do the reverse?

If state aid were distributed equally real estate taxes here in Hamilton would be quite a bit lower.

We have many fixed income retirees in my community who have a hard time understanding why their tax dollars are being used to fund failing schools in Newark.

You can be pretty sure that they all voted for Trump.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
