The trouble is the communist system in these developing countries is often the same disaster.
Power is totally in the government and a few become vastly wealthy... and crush the masses.

The choice is not between crushing communism and crushing robber barrons raping the country.

There are other choices.
How about this:
A government that maintains the rule of law and protects the economic and social rights and freedoms of all..
Even better if it promotes education and infrastructure and keeps taxes low.
