Exactly.
As Dragan pointed out, the biggest single government handouts have been the reductions - more proposed by Trump- in the rates of inheritance taxes on billionaires.
I've met some people who work 3 jobs and still can't make ends meet.

There's something else going on though.

These are old numbers, but I saw something in CSPAN recently that said that the trend is accelerating.

The CSPAN people said that there are about 7 million people - mostly white men between 25 and 55- who just don't want to work.
Some live off a spouse's income or live with parents, etc.
Painkiller use in this group is very high.
That show said that this trend began during the late 1970's and accelerated during the recent financial crisis.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
