>Of course, we don't yet know what the taxpayers of Indiana and of the US are paying to keep less than half of the Carrier jobs.

>And here we go again with the usual liberal spin. So do you think that it would have been better if ALL of the Carrier jobs in Indiana had moved to Mexico? Sheeesh!

I don't know yet. Obviously, it would be terrible for those workers, but depending what the company's getting for keeping them here, it might be better for the US as a whole. Plus we don't know yet what the workers will have to give back to the company (salaries, benefits, working conditions) to keep those jobs.

In the meantime, the November jobs report shows 178,000 new jobs and unemployment down to 4.6%.

>Aside from that, I thought Republicans don't believe in the government picking winners and losers. Anybody here seriously doubt that if Obama had made this deal, Republicans would be screaming about that?

>Actually, I doubt it (even though I am NOT a republican - I am a libertarian). There is a big difference between pouring good money after bad into failures like Solyndra and giving successful companies an incentive to keep their factories in the USA.

Yeah, this move shows other companies how to get tax breaks and other goodies from the government. Do you doubt that there are CEOs right now planning to threaten to move their companies in order to see what they get from the government?
