>>so you don't believe in one man/woman one vote ?

The UK Prime Minister isn't chosen by popular vote. Nor is the US President.

Ignoring House of Lords for convenience: Government isn't chosen by popular vote either in the UK. Each constituency chooses representatives and the number of representatives allows a party or coalition to prevail, even if the opposition won the total popular vote.

Government then chooses the PM, similar to the electoral college selecting President. Though described as indirect, US citizens actually have a more direct role in selecting President than you do in selecting PM.

My understanding is that there is a good reason for electorates rather than overall vote since otherwise big urban centers in the UK would submerge interests of farmers and rural folk, while California and the East Coast would totally dominate flyover country in the US. Electorates and the Electoral College ensure that small voices still can be heard.

If people do want popular vote, they need to move to something like MMP that does match popular vote to government without sacrificing electorates.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
