If you're going to test you'll need to do some manual actions such as manually starting a test download at the downloader end and/or creating a test EXE (or use the VFP IDE) at the host end to try locking.
It might be easier to get the host to copy the files to another folder, and then get the downloader to download the copy rather than the production file(s). That way you don't have to worry about contention.
