Re the ACA: it's an enormous beast, not just individual premiums. Billions already spent on provisions to increase efficiency of delivery. E.g. one of the biggest sources of saving/efficiency is: computerized records. And ICD10. Both of which are done deals that it wouldn't make sense to wind back because you're opposed to Obamacare.

I agree that we do not want to throw out the baby with the bath water. The computerized records and ICD10 are definitely improvements. However, the high premiums and deductibles are still a huge problem. I believe that we can make health insurance a lot more affordable for every one by making 2 simple changes: allow buying health insurance across state lines and tort reform. I am certain that a lot of other things can be done to make it more affordable but that would be a good start.

For interest: do you think affordable healthcare should be available to all, not just people over 65y?

Of course I do. I think that you and I just have differences of opinion when it gets down to who should pay for it ;)

FWIW, NZ's per capita income is far lower than the US, yet it affords an accident compensation scheme that covers all care for people in the country, including tourists, if they are injured. If little old NZ can do it, what are the barriers in the US and is not Trump more likely to secure his legacy of greatness by dismantling those barriers rather than letting them have their way?

This will have to be a discussion left for another day. Let's not ruin our beautiful new relationship :)
