>>No, the hospital can decide they don't perform abortions. FWIW, a few years ago, two of my local hospitals proposed a merger. One was a Catholic hospital and it was announced that their policy on abortion would apply at both hospitals. Our community rose up and protested loudly and insistently that that was not acceptable. The merger was scrapped.

>>Just curious. Are you in favor of late terms abortions? You know - the kind of abortions where the fetus could survive outside of the womb and become a real person?

>That doesn't happen. To be more specific, virtually every abortion after 20 weeks or so is because either the baby has already died or has a serious condition which would lead it to die soon after birth, or because the mother's health is in danger. When the latter happens after the baby is actually viable, the baby is delivered, not aborted.

That is a patently false claim that HRC tried to push during her campaign and there's no evidence to back it up.

During the Kermit Gosnell case, there was sworn testimony that women who were well into their third trimester went to Planned Parenthood to seek elective abortions. PP refused to do so, but gave the women Gosnell's name, with the statement, "Just don't tell anyone we gave you his name".

The Guttmacher Institute published a paper in 2013: among other things, they collected information on woman seeking abortions in different trimesters and acknowledged that some seeking abortions in the final trimester did so for non-medical reasons in the same manner that women in the first trimester did (though the ones in the final trimester tended to be younger)

While it's true that only a small % of abortions occur in the final trimester, there isn't a shred of evidence to support "virtually all abortions after 20 weeks are because the baby died or had a serious condition or because the mother's life is in danger". The Guttmacher Institute's study confirms that HRC's claim is not supported.
