I am not experienced with MySQL. Have used MS SQL mostly and some Oracle. But I would expect that it is about the same. You might also want to use dBeaver as a front-end for MySQL. Another plus benefit of using MySQL is that it is free (open source). Whereas, MS SQL requires licenses for productive use.
