>Sooner or later, this country is going to have to figure out a way rein in health care costs.
>
>I agree with you. But I am just not so sure that having the government and its associated bureaucracy take over the control of health care is such a great idea. I really do not want some government bureaucrat getting between my doctor and me.

A for-profit insurance company empty suit who decides who can do what with which MD is neither inherently wiser nor more benevolent than a bureaucrat, but probably makes more money and - you can be sure- has better benefits than you and I and hundreds of millions of other people like us- have.

The first step is to recognize that health care costs are whacky and need to be reduced drastically.

We have some bright people here.
It's certain that if a bunch of us sat in a room with some MD's, nurses and aides with a misson to devise ways to cut hospital stay costs in half we could do it.
There's a massive medical, pharmaceutical, political and non-profit infrastructure out there who would fight us every step of the way. I think that the non-profit sector is the most insidious but that's open to debate.
Those are just a few sections of the swamp that needs draining.
There are more.
Victor, as hard as that might be to imagine, is on the same page as you are.
The leeches want you to think that he's the bad guy, but he's not.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
