>>Whats Hillarys margin on the pop vote now. 2.5 million.trump overwhelming mandate maybe not. Or are those all dodgy votes. Its a lot isn't it 2.5 million voters who may just as well have stayed at home.

>>You keep on missing the point about the purpose of our electoral college no matter how many different people keep pointing this out to you multiple times. We do not want New York and California choosing the president for the rest of the country - the place that they like to call "fly-over country".

I rarely agree with Cohen also, and this article is not one of the exceptions.
He just doesn't get it.
If I hadn't moved to Hamilton, NJ 10 years ago, I'd probably be applauding the column too.
Cohen chooses to ignore some key facts:
First, I and most of the people I know here had to hold their noses while they voted for Trump by default. I don't know a single person who was enthusiastic about him.
Cohen ignores the fact that that woman couldn't have been elected as a sewer cleaner in most towns in America.
Second.. the people in Hamilton don't claim to be the real America- but they are an important part of this country that is persistently ridiculed and patronized by elites like Cohen.
He might be surprised, as I was, at the high quality of people there are in small towns.
He ought to spend some time in one.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
