In all fairness to Sandy - that is what they teach (or at lest did when I was a kid) in the schools here. America is the greatest, America is the land of the free, America is better than everyone else, Americans are the best people in the world, American legal system is better than everyone else, American political system is better than everyone else.. etc etc etc. I think that is why people here are reluctant to actually learn anything from other countries. When there is something that works in another country better than ours (like heath care for example) they jump up and down and refuse to believe that any other country could actually do something better than ours. Sure there are some things about the USA that are better than others - but there is stuff we could learn from other countries too.
