More likely that our immigration and travel policies are nuts.

We restrict and hassle entry of good people seeking legal entry, and look the other way for those entering illegally.

The result is overrun ranches near the border, dead bodies in the desert, and illegals who work cheap for cash wages - because that is all they can get.

A big part of the solution to illegal immigration would be making it a lot easier for more LEGAL migration from Mexico.
Mexico is our neighbor, and always will be, can't we all just get along?
More legal migration would mean:
No more dead bodies in the desert, no more underpaid off-books illegals, no lawless border areas.

It just makes too much sense.
So we won't do it, of course.
