>>Don't forget Murphy's Golden Rule
Yep, I get it. The lesson has to be that there's no genius in selecting a convenient interpretation that advantages yourself. As always, somebody needs to be the adult. In the UN's case, the US behaves the adult, stumping up the cash, providing the premises, gritting teeth at bad behavior by despot representatives, and doing it all because despite its ills, collapsing the UN by dis-empowering most states, is a path to unrest and world turmoil. The same would be true of the US where disempowering most states would be a path to unrest and turmoil. Disappointed Democrats who can't see past national tallies to legitimize undermining Trump, can only get away with it because others are willing to play the adult role rather than seizing on some other unlikely interpretation that suits themselves and creating a huge stink.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
