I was not referring specifically to the Russian hacking (you did), nor did I imply that there was any foreign influence in Watergate.
Re current claims of "hacking", my point is this: Many insist that, since there is zero evidence of tampering with votes, these claims should be dismissed as sore loser syndrome. That may be, however, there are other serious implications to these conspiracy claims that should not be dismissed altogether. There may have been clandestine and illegal activities undertaken for political gain (and this is where the comparison with Watergate is made. Period. Oddly enough, the Watergate scandal ended without a clear conclusion of the purpose of the break-in. It did lead to the discovery of abuses of power by the Nixon administration).
