I've read his original statements and then what you just posted and I hardly think he was misrepresented. Nate Silver and Nate Cohen both ripped his initial analysis. There's speculation that Halderman never considered how "viral" his initial report would go.

As I've said before, this would be far more interesting to read "before" the election results.
